Simon Says…Whopper of a challenge

Hey everyone,

Today Simon Says Stamp has introduced a twin challenge wherein the deets include blog hopping and creating something or rather anything.

The prizes include vouchers and a whopper of a prize with big names in the craft industry. So it seemed more like a celebration to me. Hence, what goes best with a celebration is cake! So my card is a dimensional cake embossed and decorated with flowers and chocolate leaves.

Have a slice…

Some “icing” flowers anyone?

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI – Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream

Flowers: SU! Daisies #2 die, flowers made from 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ circle punches with brads in the center.

Leaves: SU! Leaves sizzlit, SU! Embossing folder – Elegant Lines

Sentiment: SU! Sincere Salutations

Inks: Staz On – Timber Brown

Cheers!

Nice and neutral

Hey everyone,

The moment I saw the inspiration pic for the Tuesday Trigger challenge at Moxie Fab World, the word that came to my mind was – ELEGANCE. It reminded me more of a wedding theme somehow and that was the inspiration for my card – Vintage Wedding, although the sentiment I added was of friendship.

Anyways, did my best to incorporate the pic in my card. It’s a balanced mix between paper shapes and stamped images. I didn’t want too much of the grey instead opted to highlight very subtly though Kraft cardstock – Crumb Cake from SU!

Here you go…

A close up of the all too simple yet elegant flowers made from circle punches and put together with pearl and tiny silver brads.

Another angle.

Supplies:

Cardstock: SU! Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Basic Grey, PTI – Vintage Cream

Stamps: SU! Language of Friendship (sentiment), Inkadinkado – Bold Damasks

Inks – PTI – Fresh Snow, Staz On – Jet Black

Miscellaneous – SU! Large Lace Ribbon Border Punch, 3/4″, 1″, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″ circle punches, Close to my heart – Pearl brads, SU! – Tiny silver brads.

Cheers!

Merry Twine…

Hey everyone,

Recently I’d placed an order with the Twinnery and ordered all the colours of twine they carry. I’m not much of a ribbon hoarder/collector though I am stocking up, so decided to use twine for this card challenge by Ribbon Carousel – a first for me.

I used a holiday theme and mixed my two regular brands – PTI and SU!

Another angle where you can see the punched out shape better.

Supplies:

Cardstock: SU! – Crumb Cake, Whisper White

Stamp: PTI – Big and Bold Holiday Wishes (sentiment), SU! – Lovely As a Tree

Ink – SU! Markers – Old Olive, Always Artichoke, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie, Staz On – Blazing Red – Sentiment and sponging the edges.

Punch – SU! Ornament punch

Miscellaneous – Twinnery – Maraschino twine (red), SU! White Uni Signo gel pen, foam adhesive, double sided tape, black embossing powder

Cheers!

Tag It

Hey everyone,

As is obvious my current tags obsession isn’t showing the slightest inclination of going away, so I’m indulging myself. This time I decided to do something very different and simple.

I used my stash of brads from SU! and Close to my Heart to create a cute Christmas tag. I embossed the tag with the Swiss dots embossing folder and spread some Champagne Mist on it, especially around the edges and went over the edges again with Real Red ink also from SU!

I’m entering this tag in a number of challenges simultaneously as it meets their respective deets.

A Passion for Papertrey Ink

Hey everyone,

From my previous posts it is very evident how partial I am to Papertrey Ink. Hence I was only too willing to contribute to the challenge – Anything Goes... on the apassionforpapertreyink.blogspot.com  where one must use all or at least one PTI product. As for me I used EVERYTHING Papertrey Ink!

Since, I am still hungover on Tim Holtz tags, decided to play along with the same. So instead of a card, this time I created a tag.

Being a teacher and getting ready for school, I had a very clear idea:

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI – Vintage Cream, Simply Chartreuse, True Black, Orange Zest

Ink: Staz On – Black, Orange

Stamps: School Time & Teacher’s Apple

Miscellaneous: Clear embossing powder, white embossing powder, White Uni Signo gel pen, SU! Black marker, PTI Ribbon – Orange Zest.

Cheers!

Colour & Resist

Hey everyone,

This card that I’ve created is for two challenges hosted by Lilypad and YoungCraftersUnite wherein one requires resist techniques and the other colour. So I coupled the two techniques and incorporated it into one card.

I’ve broken out two new stamp sets (to me) so was pretty excited to use it. I’m starting to like the Tim Holtz distress look and love his tags so wanted to experiment with the idea. This being the first time, I’m quite happy with the result.

Here goes:

I embossed Kraft cardstock from PTI with the Hero Arts Woodgrain background stamp and then used Staz On Timber Brown and Colour Box – Chestnut Roan to colour the embossed image for the resist technique.

For the tag, I did the same thing using SU! En Francais stamp set and embossed it with white embossing powder then with a sponge dauber coloured it using a variety of green inks.

The butterflies are from the Hero arts stamp set – Engraved Etchings and I coloured them using water colour pencils and the aqua painter.

Supplies:

Cardstock: Kraft Cardstock, Simply Chartreuse from PTI

Inks: Stampin Up! Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, Staz On – Olive Green, Timber Brown, Chestnut Roan – Colour Box

Stamps: Hero Arts – Engraved Etchings, Woodgrain background stamp, Stampin Up! – En Francais background Stamp, Father’s Day sentiment.

Miscellaneous – Clear and white embossing powder, foam dimensionals, ribbon, pom-pom trim, tags.

Cheers!

Girly & Gutsy

Hi again,

This is my second post of the day. This time it’s for the Moxie Fab World Challenge. The theme being – Girly & Gutsy. Fortunately, there was a fixed colour scheme, however I tweaked the shade of pink just a wee bit. When asked what inspired me for this card, I’d say the colour pink and yellow together almost always remind me of flowers and I incorporated that thought into the card.

Voila!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink – Berry Sorbet, White, Summer Sunrise, Vellum

Stamp Set: PTI Year of Flower – Sweet Pea

Ink: Fresh Snow from PTI, Jet Black Staz On and Daffodil Delight from SU!

Miscellaneous: Stampin Up! Buttons sizzlit, Self Adhesive pearls

Cheers!

Simon Says So…again!

Hey everyone,

Here’s another card that I made for the challenge using a sketch by Dawny over at the Simon Says Stamp blog. I tried this amazing craft store after Britta Swiderski highly recommended it and was super thrilled to see the wide range of products they carry as well as their amazing international shipping charges and shipping time – 10 days flat!

The card below features one of the stamp sets I ordered from them – High Heels by Hero Arts.

I love the colour pink – it’s synonymous with femininity and I am a self confessed chocoholic. Hence the marriage of the two seems so perfect!

Take it away…

Supplies:

Cardstock – Papertrey Ink – Berry Sorbet, Dark Chocolate, Select White

Miscellaneous: Stampin Up! Large Lace ribbon border punch, Swiss Dot embossing folder, White Uni Signo gel pen, White Embossing Powder, Versamark

Stamp Set: High Heels – Hero Arts, sentiment – Stampin Up! Father’s Day

Ink: Colour Box chalk ink – Chestnut Roan.

Cheers!

Another CAS-ual Friday Challenge

Hey everyone!

It’s great to be back after what seems like ages. I’m kick starting my return with an entry for CAS-ual Fridays embossing theme.

I created a card for a couple on their wedding day. The supplies I used were cardstock from PTI – Vintage cream, and SU! embossing folder Vintage wallpaper, which I dabbed over with some Champagne Mist from SU!, the tag is from W9design and the sentiment also from SU!’s new stamp set – Petite Pairs.

I used a rich black satin ribbon and accentuated the cream background with red hearts cut from PTI cardstock – Pure Poppy using SU! Heart trio punch.

Presenting…

A close up of the tag and sentiment…

Cheers!

CASE Study Anniversary Blog Challenge

Hey everyone!

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. History is filled with inventions and creations that have been inspired either from nature or man. CASE Study aptly drove home this point with their current challenge.

My muse for this challenge is Debby Hughes – lime doodle. I greatly admire Debby’s clean style. Her creations scream elegance and I decided to case some of that…can’t say for sure if I’ve achieved the effect but hey! it’s important to try right?!

I’ve cased this card by Debby wherein I used SU! cardstock – Pumpkin Pie and the same colour designer paper and stamp set French Foliage. Dark Chocolate cardstock and Orange Zest ribbon from PTI as well as the sentiment – Memories from PTI’s Tiny Tags stamp set which I mounted on a metal rim tag.

The leaves from the French Foliage stamp set I embossed with gold embossing powder, then sponged it with SU! inks – More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze for a fall/autumn effect. The Dark Chocolate cardstock was stamped with the little droplets stamp from the same stamp set with Versamark.

Have a look…

Another shot…

Cheers!
